Seu Jorge kicks off his U.S tour in L.A. covering the greats of MPB

LOS ANGELES, CA (BDCi) — One of the most important contemporary names in Brazilian music and greatest interpreter of MPB, samba, samba rock, samba, funk, soul and afro-popo, the singer Seu Jorge, started his series of concerts in the United States this past Saturday (8) in Los Angeles.

The singer sold out the Luckman Fine Arts Complex and played to a very diverse audience. According to the venue’s public relations staff, there was a waiting list for tickets, and only a few fans hit the jackpot just before the start of the event.
With a very relaxed and contagious energy, Seu Jorge thrilled Americans, Latinos, Asians, and of course the native Brazilians who attended the concert and experienced a different version of the artist. He performed in a more low-key fashion, with just his guitar and the brothers Pretinho da Serrinha on the ukulele and Jorge Quininho on percussion.
This season gives me the opportunity to experience different things, breaking away from what I’m used to doing, which is working with Brazilian music at its origin, said the singer.
In his repertoire, Seu Jorge played songs of Adoniran Barbosa, Noel Rosa and other great names of MPB. In addition, he performed his greatest hits such as Amiga da Minha Mulher, Problema Social, Carolina” and Burguesinha.
The singer goes to New York, where he will play a few nights at one of the most famous and traditional Jazz clubs in the world, the Blue Note Club, and then returns to San Francisco playing in a city landmark, the Bimbo‘s 365, ending his U.S. tour.
