CASCAVEL (BDCi) – Rioting prisoners at a jail in the state of Paraná have agreed to end their uprising that started Sunday (24) morning.
During the rioting, four inmates were killed; two beheaded and two thrown from the roof.
A negotiation was reached after hours of talks on Monday (25), resulting in the transfer of most inmates to other Paraná state prisons.
Around 200 prisoners have already been transferred to other units, while some 600 more are expected to be moved within the next few days.
The rioting inmates have also agreed to release the two guards taken hostage during the revolt.
Local authorities believe 20 of the Cascavel jail’s 24 wings were destroyed in the riot.
