GM to invest $2.8 billion in Brazil

BRASÍLIA (BDCi) – General Motors has announced that over the next five years it will invest $2.8 billion in Brazil, following a meeting between GM Chef Executive Officer Mary Teresa Barra and President Dilma Rousseff.

GM’s investments will go directly towards new products and technologies as well as towards the improvement of current models, despite ongoing GM recalls.

Brazil also happens to be experiencing its own decline in the automotive industry due to a recent economic slowdown.

The investments in Brazil seem to be part of GM’s plan to reinvigorate the company and regain customer trust both in the U.S. and abroad.
