FORT LAUDERDALE (BDCi) – The low-cost carrier known as Azul Brazilian Airlines officially launched its international service between Brazil and the U.S. with its first flight from São Paulo/Campinas International Airport to Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Tuesday (2).
Later in the evening, the first Brazil-bound flight took off from Fort Lauderdale, landing the next day at São Paulo/Campinas.
Azul is the third biggest carrier in Brazil, operating over 850 flights to 105 South American destinations every day, and saw a huge demand from Brazilians for flights to Florida.
For the past few years, Brazilian officials have worked with tourism partners to help realize the project, with almost 20,000 Brazilians residing in Broward County, Florida, not far from Palm Beach County.
The price of an economy class ticket is $888, fees and taxes included.
Starting December 15, Azul will also add service between São Paulo/Campinas and Orlando International Airport.
