Eastern Conference Matchups
#1 Pittsburgh Penguins vs #4 Boston Bruins (Boston Wins Series 4-0)
The Bruins completely beat up the Penguins in the first two games of the series to enter this week ahead 2-0. With games three and four being played this week, the Bruins did not take their foot off the accelerator. In game three the two teams battled it out until second overtime when Patrice Bergeron knocked in a Brad Marchand pass to beat Tomas Vokoun and give the Bruins a 2-1 victory. In game four it was a scoreless match until the third period when Adam McQuaid sent a perfectly positioned shot glove side high to beat Vokoun and give the Bruins the lead and what would be the lone goal in the game and series victory to advance Boston to the Stanley Cup. The Bruins are back in the Stanley Cup finals for the second time in the past three years and won it all back in 2011.
Western Conference Matchups
#1 Chicago Blackhawks vs #5 Los Angeles Kings (Chicago Wins Series 4-1)
Last years champions the Los Angeles Kings entered the week down two games to none in their series, however with the next two games in Los Angeles the Kings had a chance to fight back in their series if they could remain perfect at home. They did indeed remain perfect after winning game three by a score of 3-1, however in game four the Kings finally lost at home as the Blackhawks earned a 3-2 victory and took a 3-1 series lead. The Kings road woes continued in game five as the Kings lost the game and series in heartbreaking fashion after tying the game up with just 10 seconds remaining, Patrick Kane beat them with his third goal of the game coming in double overtime sending the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup Finals and eliminating the defending champs. The Blackhawks are back in the finals after winning it all back in 2010.
