Whitney Houston autopsy report
L.A. (BDCi) – The official cause of death for music legend Whitney Houston is being listed as “accidental drowning,” but a coroner has ruled that heart disease and drug abuse also played a role in her death.
Drug tests indicate that Houston, 48, was a chronic cocaine user.
The L.A. County Coroner’s office says “no trauma or foul play is suspected.”
Along with drowning, “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use” are cited as the causes of death.
Marijuana, an anti-anxiety drug, a muscle relaxant and an allergy medication were also found in Houston’s blood, though the coroner says these were not factors in her death.
Houston, who has a had a long time battle with drug addiction, was found in her hotel room bathtub in Los Angeles the day before the Grammys on February 11th.
She was laid to rest in her home state of New Jersey following a funeral. Celebrities in attendance included Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Oprah Winfrey.
