(BDCi) The U.S. women’s soccer team tied Sweden 1-1, yet will move on to the Championship game to face defending Algarve Cup champion Germany.
The U.S. only needed a win or tie in order to move on to the championship game after victories over China and Iceland. They led their Group B by two points over Sweden. Sweden needed a win to move on.
Sweden struck first in this match with a goal in the 4th minute by Lisa Dahlkvist. The U.S. responded in the 56th minute on a goal by Alex Morgan.
The U.S will now play Germany on Wednesday March 13th to decide the champion of the Algarve Cup.
