Travels plans change due to delayed U.S. visas

BRASÍLIA (BDCi) – The United Stated has issued a statement saying there are problems in its worldwide visa processing system and that delays should be expected.

During the first six months of this year, over half a million visas were issued to foreigners living in Brazil and Brazilian nationals, and thousands will see their travel plans affected by the recent issue.

Over a million U.S. visas were issued in Brazil in 2013 which makes Brazil on of the biggest groups of visitors to the U.S.

The U.S. Embassy in Brasília is also working to restore visa systems. It has asked Brazilians that do not have entry visas but were planning a trip to the States within the next week to delay those trips.

Travelers with emergency situations are asked to contact their respective consulates.
