The Manhattan Beach Open is right around the corner

LOS ANGELES, CA (BDCi) — The Manhattan Beach Open returns with a retro twist this summer in commemoration of its 53rd year of lore, legend and tradition. This year, the longest running beach volleyball tournament in the sport has been added as the second stop of the 2013 AVP tour and the most celebrated beach volleyball players in the world – including Kerri Walsh-Jennings, Sean Rosenthal, Jake Gibb, April Ross and more.

The athletes will battle for the Manhattan Beach Open title, a plaque on prestigious Volleyball Walk of Fame and a piece of the $200,000 prize purse, the biggest purse in Manhattan Beach Open history.

Beginning with the intense qualifying rounds on Friday, Aug. 23, the Manhattan Beach Open will dive into more action on Saturday, Aug. 24 as both men and women players hit the sand in an elimination tournament that showcases the world’s top talent.

Watch as beach volleyball legends Tim Hovland and Mike Dodd take the stage in the Legends 4s competition. The Finals conclude on Sunday, Aug. 23 with an awards ceremony.
