State investigating Edison’s response to power outages
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) – Southern California Edison is under scrutiny from the California Public Utilities Commission over wind-related power outages that lasted more than a week for some Southland residents.
Southern California Edison said Thursday morning that it had finally restored power to all its customers.
419,000 SoCal Edison customers were without power at the peak of the outage and thousands remained without power a week later.
Some of the hardest hit areas were Alhambra, South Pasadena, Pasadena, San Marino and San Gabriel.
The state PUC is now looking into why the outages occurred and why it’s taken so long for power to be restored.
Edison called in crews from as far away as Fresno, and had workers doing 32-hour shifts.
