Severe cold in SoCal
L.A. (BDCi) – Parts of Southern California had to deal with sub-freezing temperatures Monday night (27) and early today (28).
A freeze warning was also in effect for the Ventura County interior valleys until 9 a.m. this morning as well as the San Bernardino and Riverside County valleys.
A frost advisory was in effect until 9 a.m. for the San Fernando Valleys, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County coastal valleys and the Santa Monica Recreational Area.
Daytime temperatures are expected to be below normal today.
Temperatures dropped to as low as 23 degrees in Big Bear and snow flurries forced the shutdown of a part of the Grapevine for several hours Monday afternoon.
Light and spotty rainfall was seen in most areas.
Other areas experienced thunderstorms with brief heavy rain and lightning while several areas, like Pasadena, were hit with some hail.
According to the National Weather service, rain and clouds will make way for mostly sunny skies.
