BOSTON, MASSACHUSSETTS—One of the suspects linked to the Boston Marathon bombing was killed early Friday morning, after a wild chase that resulted in the death of a campus police office, while the second was sought in the surrounding area. Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts advised that residents of Boston and its neighboring communities should “stay indoors and keep their doors locked.”
The two suspects were identified by police as brothers. The surviving suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was a 19 year old from Cambridge, Massachussetts. His brother was identified as a 26 year old by the name of Tamerlan Tsarnev. Authorities were investigating whether the dead man had a bomb strapped to his body.
The manhunt of the surviving suspect continued on in the Boston region, and residents are advised to stay home until the man is found. All public transit service has been suspended indefinitely.
Colonel Tim Alben believe that these two men are responsible for the death of a MIT police officer and the shooting of a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority police officer. “We believe that these same individuals were responsible for the bombing at the Boston marathon.”
The brothers have substantial presence on social media. A former school mate of Dzhokhar identified him as “very sweet”, adding that, “I never heard anybody say a bad word about him.”
