RIO JANEIRO (BDCi) — The Children’s Hope campaign – Run and Walk (Criança Esperança) took place this past Sunday in 16 Brazilian cities. The charity event, featuring more than 600 people in each city, is promoted by Globo, the biggest Brazilian TV channel in country.
Criança Esperança is a nationwide Brazilian social mobilization campaign, which seeks to raise awareness of the population and the authorities for the rights of children and adolescents . All money raised from subscriptions and purchases of the race kits were donated to the project. The race brings out people in wheelchairs, platoon and general participants with disability.
Brazilian actress Bia Arantes was pretty much excited: “I’m not a good athlete, but it’s for a good cause.” She joked.
Many families and people of all ages participated in the race. Simone Santos, coordinator of the event, stressed the importance of the five-kilometer circuit. “It’s for all ages. Sport and solidarity forever. We have 2014 already on the agenda here in Belo Horizonte.” She said.
