Protesters hit Brazilian TV station

COPACABANA (BDCi) – With no signs of protests easing up on the first day of the World Cup, protesters set their sights on the ITV studio, throwing rocks at the television station located on Copacabana beach.

The anti-Cup protesters left some significant marks on the station’s large glass panels during the event’s opening match between Brazil and Croatia.

Presenters and pundits were inside during the attack and say the demonstration formed within the last ten minutes of the game and that they tried to explain to protesters that the studio has nothing to do with what they are protesting.

Riot police also fired teargas and concussion grenades at protesters in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo earlier in the day, injuring a CNN producer in the arm.
