Protesters break into Brazilian car dealership

SÃO PAULO (BDCi) – A demonstration that began at the start of the Uruguay – England game on Thursday (19) culminated with about 2,000 protesters vandalizing a luxury car dealership.

Taking place just 15 miles west of Arena Corinthias, protesters smashed the windows of luxury cars, trashed banks and threw potent fireworks at police.

They set fire to trash on a main highway and began an impromptu soccer game in the middle of the road.

The demonstration had mostly dissipated within five hours of beginning.

The Free Fare Movement was behind the protest and their only aim is to make public transit free.

In an unrelated incident, São Paulo police arrested 15 men for threatening English fans near a FIFA Fan Fest viewing area.
