President Rousseff signs World Cup law
BRASILIA (BDCi) – Brazil’s president has finally signed a bill into law, which will allow for the sale of alcohol at the upcoming 2014 World Cup.
The law comes after FIFA’s repeated attempts to get Brazil to change its legislation that originally bans the sale of alcohol at soccer matches.
Opposed politicians in the Congress are upset with the final version of the bill, alleging that the central government is “playing politics” with FIFA.
Some believe state governors may ban the sale of beer during the event anyway.
The law contains no restriction on the sale of alcohol.
