Popular Mexican singer dies in plane accident
Mexico (BDCi)– Mexican regional singer dies in plane crash accident Sunday morning.
Jenni Rivera, known as the Diva de la Banda, died at only 43 years old after the plane that carried her and 5 other crashed in Monterrey Mexico.
All were flying to Toluca, Mexico after one of Rivera’s concert at 3:15 a.m. Amongst them was his publicists, Arturo (Alberto) Rivera, make-up artist Jacob Llenares, Genaro N., and pilots Miguel Pérez and Alejandro Torres.

The 43-year-old Learjet 25 that carried the singer had been in a previous accident in 2005 after suffering a fuel system malfunction. Mexican authorities have not been able to find any recognizable materials.
The impact was so powerful that the remains of the plane “are scattered over an area of 250 to 300 meters. It is almost unrecognizable,” said Transportation and Communications Minister Gerardo Ruiz Esparza.
Millions of fans now mourn the death of this Mexican regional superstar. Friends, family and fans have gathered outside of Rivera’s mother home in Lakewood.
“It’s a huge loss for us to have our daughter in heaven, but we have to accept what God gives us,” Rivera’s father Pedro Rivera said outside their home.
With 12 years of music career, Rivera had reach superstardom. She recently won two Billboard awards, including Female Artist of the Year. She had also been nominated to various Latin Grammy’s.
She left behind 5 children, including the youngest at only 10-years-old, Johnny Lopez.
