New tech school opens in Rio de Janeiro

BARRA MANSA (BDCi) – State officials have inaugurated the first higher education institute in the Rio city of Barra Mansa.

The School of Technology is just under 12,000 square feet and contains eight classrooms, a computer science lab as well as an architecture and network lab.

One of the courses to be offered is Technology in Internet Systems, a three-year program focused on digital entrepreneurship, with 152 open seats.

The mayor of Barra Mansa hopes the new university and courses like the one in digital entrepreneurship will bring great employment opportunities for students.

Five additional Schools of Technology are expected by the end of 2014 in the Rio cities of Niterói, Saquarema, São João de Meriti, Campos dos Goytacazes and Barra do Pirai.
