National Night Out against crime in West Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (BDCi) – A sport event as a way to bring the Los Angeles police force and the local community together will happen in West Los Angeles as part of the “National Night Out” an evening dubbed “Take Me Out to The Ball Park.”

The event is seeks to get the local community involved in what they called “local anticrime efforts.”

Remember the good old days when neighbors not only knew each other but also looked out for one another as well? The weekends were spent having neighborhood block parties and there was a comfort in leaving for a long vacation knowing that your house was safe because your neighbors were on the lookout.

Community members of all ages are invited to stop by the Westchester Park on Tuesday, August 7 beginning at 6 p.m. for a friendly game of softball with officers, as well as drinks and hot dogs.

“The purpose of this event is to bring the police and folks together and promote safety community, and part of that is having a positive experience with the police,” said Neighborhood Council Westchester/Playa President Cyndi Hench.

Everyone interested in playing softball will have a chance to do so. The teams will be a mixed of all ages and abilities.

“National Night Out” will take place at Westchester Park, located at 7000 W. Manchester Ave. in Westchester.
