Minimum wage increase goes into effect in Brazil
BRASILIA (BDCi) – – Now that 2012 is here, workers just got a small raise in their minimum wages from 2011’s BRL 545 to 2012’s BRL 623 per month.

The change was signed into law in December 2011 and represents a 14.3% year over year increase in the minimum wage.

The monthly minimum wage in Brazil represents approximately $2/hour for a full-time worker in the United States. By comparison the minimum wage in the U.S. state of California is $8/hour.
