Los Angeles Kings vs Chicago Blackhawks (Game 3)

1 Mins read

LOS ANGELES, CA (BDCi) – Trailing two games to none in their best of seven series against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Los Angeles Kings knew they would need to continue their perfect record at home if they wanted a chance to win their series. Game three was played Tuesday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles in front of a raucous crowd. Would the Kings be able to take advantage and climb back into their series? Or would the Blackhawks continue to dominate like they have in the first two games? Let’s find out!

In the first period the Kings struck quickly as a little over three minutes into the game it was Justin Williams scoring his sixth goal of the playoffs to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. The rest of the period was very back and forth as each team had puck possession for about half the period and the total shots on goal were very even as the Blackhawks finished with seven shots on goal and the Kings eight. After one period of play the Kings led 1-0.

In the second period the Kings were able to open up their lead to two goals as Slava Voynov took a slap shot that broke his stick, however the puck still had enough oomph on it to slide past all the defenseman and beat goaltender Corey Crawford to give the Kings a 2-0 lead. The Kings would completely dominate the period as they would outshoot the Blackhawks nine to three, however the Blackhawks would strike for a goal late in the period as Bryan Bickell scored on a wrap-a-round goal to bring Chicago to within one goal after two periods of play.

In the third period it was a flurry of shots from both teams as each recorded ten shots on goal, however Jonathan Quick continued his stellar post-season play as he turned away all ten shots and the Kings added an empty netter goals as Dwight King scored to make it 3-1 and give Los Angeles the victory.

The series is now 2-1 in favor of the Chicago Blackhawks and the series will continue on Thursday night in Los Angeles where the Kings will look to even up the series.
