SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BDCi) — The Samba king will be in Los Angeles and San Francisco starting August 31 and for music lovers all over the world, this is a Brazilian treat. Aragao began his career in the 1970’s in Brazil as a Sambista during his days in the nightclub scene. In 1977 his songwriting career took off with the composition entitled “Malandro” with Jotabe. His next success took place as a founding member of the group Grupo Fundo de Quintal. He then later left the band to pursue his own solo career.
Great Samba artists such as Beth Carvalho, Alcione, Martinho da Vila, and Zeca Pagodinho, have all used Aragao compositions within their own work. In 1982, Aragao released his first solo album entitled Jorge Aragao. His best known songs are “Amigos… Amantes”, “Do Fundo do Nosso Quintal”, Enredo do Meu Samba”, “Ontem”, and several others. Aragao’s music can be categorized as Samba Classics.
