JAPAN (BDCi) – The U.S. Geological survey reported that a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Honshu, Japan’s main island Thursday.
The quake cause for a temporary tsunami warning but was called off after small waves were seen lapping at the coast.
The earthquake hit off the coast of Honshu, a depth of about one mile below seal level and centered 126 miles from the city of Sendai, According to Reuters.
The rocked location was not far from where the epicenter of the March 11 quake-tsunami disaster that killed more than 20,000 people and triggered the world’s worse nuclear crisis since Chernobyl 25 years ago.
The were no report of injuries or damages.
Honshu is considered the largest island of Japan and home to Tokyo and Yokohama.
