Iraqi woman’s death may not be hate crime

EL CAJON, CA (BDCi) – Recently released records may contain evidence that the beating and death of an Iraqi woman was not a hate crime.

Shaima Alawadi was apparently planning on divorcing her husband and moving to Texas, raising doubt about the true motive behind her slaying.

Records also show that Alawadi’s daughter Fatima, 17 (pictured above), was distraught over a pending arranged marriage to one of her cousins.

An affidavit does not match up with reports that Alawadi’s husband was taking the couple’s younger children to school at the time of the attack.

Sources say Fatima flew with her brother and father to Iraq for Alawadi’s funeral and that they plan to stay there for two weeks.
