L.A. (BDCi) – In case you didn’t already know, it’s HOT in L.A! And unconditionally so.
Record-high temperatures were expected and met across Southern California Monday (1), with temps in downtown L..A. reaching 100 degrees.
The insane triple digits combined with strong winds, low humidity and dry vegetation have prompted a red flag warning from the National Weather Service in various areas.
The Santa Clarita Valley as well as the San Gabriel Mountains have been issued a red flag warning, or high fire danger, through 6 p.m. today (2).
Red flag warnings have also been issued for the Angeles National Forest and the Los Padres National forest.
The Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area is under a less serious fire weather watch from late this morning through the afternoon.
Thanks to an onshore flow, conditions today are expected to not be as hot and dry as yesterday, but red flag areas may still experience temperatures around 100.
Some tips to help beat the heat:
– use light, loose, light-colored clothes
– Drink plenty of healthy fluids, especially water
– Stay away from strenuous activities
– NEVER leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle, even if the windows are down
