High gas prices lead to shortages
L.A. (BDCi) – A recent on-going spike in the price of wholesale gasoline has triggered a shortage across Southern California.
Costco has already suspended gas sales at several L.A. stores, including locations in Northridge, Marina del Rey and Inglewood.
Various mom-and-pop gas stations have stopped buying wholesale gas for the time being because it has become too expensive.
The price for wholesale gas in the state jumped 19.2 cents overnight Thursday (4) to $4.58/gallon. With added taxes and costs, the California average is closer to $5/gallon.
According to sources, gas prices already passed the $5/gallon-mark at some California filling stations, like a West Covina station that charged $5.31/gallon on Thursday.
Prices are estimated to recede sometime this month.
