Four teens steal nine goats from high school
RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) – Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with theft of nine goats from a high school in Riverside, some of which were sold to an auction house, according to police.
The goats were taken Sunday night from Norte Vista High school, where agriculture students were raising the animals for an FFA (Future Farmers of America) project.
19-year old Michael Visser, of Norco and 18-year old Letrell Airrington were arrested, along with two minors, a 17-year-old Norte Vista student and a 16-year-old related to Visser.
They are facing felony theft of livestock charges. Four of the goats were recovered at an auction house, after the Norte Vista agriculture teacher went searching for them, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
Two others were found at the home of one of the suspects. Three other goats were taken to a slaughterhouse, according to police. Only one of those animals wwas found alive.
Authorities believe the teens were trying to make some fast cash for the holiday season.
