Dueling rallies greet Obama at OC fundraiser breakfast
CORONA DEL MAR, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) – Supporters and opponents of President Obama held dueling rallies in Corona Del Mar Thursday morning, where the president is attending a breakfast fundraiser.
The breakfast is being held at the private home of a developer in a neighborhood near East Coast Highway and Seaward. Tickets to that event range from $10,000 to $35,000.
Some streets between Morning Canyon and Evening Canyon roads will be closed south of East Coast Highway in Corona Del Mar until noon.
If you have a valid ID showing you live in the area where Obama will be, you can access those streets.
Nearly 100 protesters gathered just outside the neighborhood early Thursday, some to welcome the Commander-in-Chief, and others to protest his visit.
“We want the president to know that he’s very welcome in Orange County,” supporter Guy Johnson said.
Not everyone was so happy to see Obama, however. The Republican Party of Orange County organized a demonstration against his policies.
“I’ve been around for almost 73 years now and grew up in Southern California, and I’m very concerned about different things,” area resident Kent Moore said.
After the fundraiser, the president will move on to San Francisco, where another rock band, Sound Garden, will headline a fundraiser.
