LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) — Dario Franchitti won the pole position for the Long Beach Grand Prix which is a nice sign for him after getting off to a miserable start to the season.
Franchitti, a four-time winner in the IZOD IndyCar Series and winner of the Long Beach race in 2009, turned in the quickest qualifying lap of 105.369 mph on Saturday.
Ryan Hunter-Reay will start alongside Franchitti after turning in a lap time of 105.282 mph. Australian Will Power qualified third and Japanese driver Takuma Sato was fourth.

Brazilian Helio Castroneves turned in a lap of 104.235 mph which was good enough for sixth place. Fellow Brazilian Tony Kanaan turned in a lap of 104.822 mph and he finished in eighth place. Sadly, Ana Beatriz qualified in 23rd place after having trouble with her brakes.
The Long Beach Grand Prix will run Sunday at 1:30 p.m and BDCi will be there for all the highlights and coverage.
