MANHATTAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) — Casey Jennings finally earned victory at his hometown Manhattan Beach Open.
Jennings lured his former partner Matt Fuerbringer out of retirement for one last run at what had been an elusive title. They had not played together since 2009 and spirited off with the win, needing two separate victories over the top-ranked team of Phil Daulhasser and Sean Rosenthal to get it done.
They were seeded fifth and defeated Daulhasser and Rosenthal in a widly entertaining final, 21-18, 21-23, 15-12.
“It means everything,” Fuerbringer said. “I feel like we did some great things, but I felt we left some stuff on the table. But now we have our names on the pier and it puts us right back on that status of where we were. We are Manhattan Beach Champions.”
