California smokers in rental trouble SACRAMENTO, CA (BDCi) – Tenants will be banned from smoking on their rental properties depending on whether Gov. Jerry Brown signs a legislative bill sent to him by the state Senate Monday. The purpose of the bill is to offer families more smoke-free options, according to Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla of Los Angeles. Padilla also says that more than 80 percent of Californians do not smoke, yet smoke-free multifamily households are still rare. In a released statement, Padilla said that second hand smoke gets through open windows, doors, shared ventilations systems, and other groups in buildings.
The Bill, SB332 was sent and placed on Brown’s desk, Monday and approval is still pending.
