BRASÍLIA (BDCi) – The Brazilian supreme court has voted to allow the extradition of a fugitive solicitor back to Ireland.
Michael Lynn was a small-time lawyer who re-branded himself as a global property tycoon. He fled Ireland in 2007 with debts of 80 million euros.
By the time the ex-solicitor’s company Kendar Holdings had unraveled, he had accumulated 148 properties, 154 bank accounts and assets totaling over 50 million euros.
The justice assigned to the case, Marco Aurélio, ruled Tuesday (16) in favor of the Irish government’s request to extradite Lynn back to Ireland.
According to Brazilian authorities, the Director of Public Prosecutions plans to bring 33 separate charges against Lynn, as he continues to insist that he is innocent.
