Brazil sees boost in domestic air travel

SÃO PAULO (BDCi) – Despite lower-than-expected air travel numbers during the World Cup in June and July, the demand for air transportation in Brazil grew by 5.4 percent from January to September.

In the month of September alone, domestic air travel grew by 3 percent when compared to September 2013.

Last month, the four largest Brazilian airlines transported over 6.7 million passengers, a 3.8-percent increase from last year.

The Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) increased by 1.3 percent from the previous month and the Load Factor (seats occupied) was at 78.67 percent.

The month of September also saw a rise in international air travel, with an 8.7-percent increase in the demand for international flights and a 1.8-percent increase in the total number of seats offered.
