Brazil names Dunga coach for second time

BRASÍLIA (BDCi) – Carlos Dunga has officially been appointed as the manager of Brazil’s national soccer squad.

The announcement was given in Brazil yesterday (22).

In 1994, Dunga, now 50, led Brazil to victory at the U.S. World Cup as captain of the national team. He was then hired as coach in 2006, though he had no previous management experience.

Dunga coached the national team at the 2010 South Africa World Cup, where Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

He left his position as coach after the 2-1 loss to the Netherlands in 2010 amid criticism from his former players as well as the media for the team’s conservative and physical style.
