Argentina hit by 6.2 earthquake

JUJUY (BDCi) – At 5:12 a.m. PDT a magnitude-6.2 earthquake hit the northwest of Argentina, reports AP.

People in the provinces of Jujuy and Salta tweeted that this was the “strongest quake” they had experienced in years. The 6.2 quake reportedly cracked windows, knocked furniture over and had people running from homes and schools.

The quake’s center, roughly 5.9 miles down, was close to Jujuy and Salta’s capitals. San Pedro, a small town located about 40 miles from the epicenter felt some of the strongest shaking.

There were no immediate serious damages or injuries reported.
