Angels Torii Hunter’s son arrested for sexual assault

PROSPER, TEXAS – The son of Angels outfielder Torii Hunter has been arrested for the sexual assault of a child.

Darius McClinton-Hunter was one of five Prosper High School students arrested Monday on charges related to a sexual assault reported last month.

Police investigated the case for about a month before making the arrests.

The victim is reportedly 16 years old. Authorities would not say when or where the alleged crime took place, but said it did not occur on school property.

Four of those arrested are charged with sexual assault of a child and the fifth is charged with unlawful restrain.

Two of those arrested are adults: 17-year old Garrick White and Hunter, also 17.

Both White and Hunter are charged with sexual assault of a child, a 2nd-degree felony.

According to Tim Mead, the Angels vice president of communications, the club has placed outfielder Hunter on the restricted list due to a “personal matter.”

Hunter was not in the lineup Monday night. He left the stadium several hours before the game against Oakland to go to Texas.

Hunter sent a message to his fans on Twitter Monday night saying: “This if very tough for a father. Thanks for ur prayers and support. Be Blessed everyone!”

Darius Hunter is one of Torii Hunter’s three sons who played on the Prosper high football team last season.

He was being recruited by several universities, and was interested in playing at Oregon, according to his father.
