SHANGHAI, CHINA (BDCi TV) – – Spain’s Fernando Alonso regained his F1 swagger with a win in the Grand Prix of China Sunday.
Ferrari’s number one driver had a choppy first half of this the third leg of the world championship, but used a tire strategy to stay in front of the pack the entire second half of the race.
Alonso was followed by Melbourne’s winner Kimi Raikkonen and former world champion Lewis Hamilton who finished 10 and 12 seconds behind respectively.
The points standing leader, Sebastian Vettel pitted for soft tires in lap 51, and nearly caught Hamilton at the checkered flag, but settled for fourth place.
With the win Fernando Alonso moves to third place in the drivers’ standings behind Raikkonen and Vettel. His teammate, Brazilian Felipe Massa finished sixth in Shanghai, leaving him in 5th place in the drivers’ standings.
Red Bull Racing – even with Vettel and Mark Webber feuding – are ahead in the Constructors’ Cup with 48 points followed by Ferrari’s 43 points.
Next week the championship’s fourth round travels to the middle east and takes place in the country of Bahrain.
