Hostage situation end in gunfire
BUENA PARK, CA (BDCi) – An armed man is in custody following a hostage standoff at a Buena Park bank, where he was shot and wounded by police.
Police received a call around noon about a possible robbery at the Saehan Bank.
Buena park police Cpl. Andy Luong said the suspect entered the bank with a shotgun.
The suspect allowed six employees to leave following an employee’s request but he decided to keep bank manager Michelle Kwon as a hostage.
SWAT officers fired on the suspect after a two-hour standoff and he fired back at police.
Kwon was uninjured.
The suspect is described as a middle-aged Korean man. He was transported to a hospital in police custody.
As of last night (1), his condition is unknown.
Suspicious pipe bombs were discovered inside the bank but authorities have determined that they were not dangerous.
