Woman blinded by pepper spray speaks out
BEAUMONT, CA (BDCi) – The woman who was allegedly blinded after being pepper sprayed by a police officer is finally speaking out.
A grand jury in Riverside County indicted officer Enoch Clark last week on charges of assault likely to cause great bodily injury, assault with a less-lethal weapon, assault under the color of authority and use of force causing serious bodily injury.
The woman, Monique Christina Hernandez, said, “The damage to my eyes is so severe there’s nothing they can do to make me see again.”
Clark is said to have sprayed Hernandez from 12 inches away but with a JPX device meant to be used at a minimum distance of five feet.
His attorney Kasey Castillo says he is “looking forward to his day in court.”
