BRASÍLIA (BDCi) – It was announced on Wednesday (23) that Telecom Italia plans to invest $1.82 billion annually in Brazil for the next three years.
The company will also participate in Brazil’s upcoming 4G auction and plans to acquire a new license for expanded 4G service on a new frequency band.
Telecom Italia’s TIM Brasil is one of Brazil’s largest wireless operators and already offers 4G LTE mobile broadband services.
New investments are aimed at upping the caliber of TIM Brasil’s wireless services, which cannot yet be considered first-world.
In September, Brazil will auction off licenses to offer 4G services on a new frequency band.
