SAUDI ARABIA (BDCi) – King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has granted women in his kingdom the right to vote and will allow women to run in the next municipal elections.
According to Bloomberg News, the Saudi king also announced that women will now be able to serve on his advisory body, the Shoura Council.
Abdullah opened the first co-ed university and appointed the first female deputy minister back in 2009.
The next municipal elections will be held in 2015.
