BRASÍLIA (BDCi) – Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff has publicly called Israel’s conflict with Hamas “a massacre.”
Brazil was one of the first countries to recall its ambassador from Israel just last week.
More than a thousand Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed since the most recent fighting broke out.
Almost 60 Israelis, including three civilians, have also died.
In nearby Libya, Brazil has evacuated its embassy staff due to growing unrest and lawlessness in the country.
The staff has been moved from Libya’s capital city Tripoli to Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, and Brazil stresses that the embassy will remain open.
Other Western nations had already made similar decisions concerning their diplomatic staff in Libya.
Scores have been killed during the latest fighting between rival militias.
