May Day marches to tie up traffic across Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) – Numerous May Day marches are expected to draw thousands of people on Tuesday, tying up traffic in downtown Los Angeles and beyond.
Members of Occupy L.A., various labor unions, workers, clergy members, students and politicians are all expected to participate.
In past years, May Day marches have drawn huge crowds to the downtown area. Those demonstrations centered primarily on immigration reform.
Organizers say that this year’s march will also focus on economic reforms, including higher wages and better health care for workers.
The busiest time of the day is expected to be around 1 p.pm., when many of the rallies and marches will converge in downtown L.A..
A rally is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at 6th Street and Main Street. An even larger rally is expected at Pershing Square at 7 p.m.
