ICE agent shootout leaves one dead
LONG BEACH, CA (BDCi) – A dispute between two Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building has left one agent wounded and another dead.
According to Steven Martinez, assistant director with the FBI in charge of the Los Angeles office, two federal agents were involved in “workplace violence” in their office space.
“When the incident escalated, one agent fired several wounds at the other agent, wounding him.”
“Another agent working nearby intervened and fired his weapon to prevent additional rounds being fired at the victim. This resulted in the death of the shooter.”
The wounded agent is listed in stable condition at St. Mary Medical Center.
Long Beach Police, along with the FBI and ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating the shooting.
