RIO DE JANEIRO (BDCi) – A judge in Brazil has granted bail to Ray Whelan, the British executive charged in the alleged World Cup ticket-scalping scheme.
The director of Match Services was not deemed a flight risk and was released on Tuesday (6), but he must not leave Rio de Janeiro.
As the director of Match, Whelan owned the rights to sell hospitality packages during the 2014 World Cup.
He was arrested in July and accused of providing tickets to the top ticket scalper in the scheme, an Algerian businessman.
Match continues to deny any wrongdoing by Whelan.
